Cursos para niños en Bogotá

How the facts in this list are checked

Where the facts come from

We read each place’s own website and note what it says about its offer for children: ages, the weekly timetable, prices with the period they cover, languages, trial classes and whether a parent must stay.

Addresses, map points and opening hours may also come from the place’s Google Maps profile. For sports clubs, membership of a liga or federación may come from the member list that body publishes.

Every fact is kept with the address of its page, the date it was read and a short quote in that page’s language. Directories, news articles, booking sites, social media and reviews are not used as sources.

Source flags

Every source carries one of three flags: published by the place (its own website), Google listing (its profile on Google Maps), federation list (the member list of a sports liga or federación).

A place’s page prints the flag and the date beside each fact: you see its origin and its age at a glance.

Facts not published

When the pages we read leave a fact out, the place’s page calls it not published and the table shows a dash. “Not published” describes our sources and says nothing about the place.

No gap is filled by guessing. A school grade such as transición or tercero is never turned into an age. A price keeps the period the place prints; the one sum we do is the ≈ price per class, a package or course price divided by the number of classes it covers.

Class times and opening hours

The table has two columns for time. Class times: the days and hours of a class, a care session or a programme day, as the place prints them. Opening hours: when the branch is open, often taken from its Google profile.

A place can be open at an hour when no group for a given age meets. A row with opening hours and nothing more goes below the dividing line, under a heading that says why.

The after-school pages look at weekdays from 15:00 to 18:00. A course counts when one of its groups starts within that span; after-school care counts when its hours, extended hours included, cover the whole of it.

What we do not measure

  • Places, teachers, coaches and programmes get no rating, score or rank.
  • We make no visits; each fact rests on a published source.
  • How well a place teaches, trains or looks after children is not assessed.
  • Free places in a group are not tracked; ask the place.
  • Prices are shown as printed, with their period and date, and are not confirmed with the place.

Right of reply

Running a listed place and seeing a fact that is wrong, missing or stale? Send the right one through the correction form, with a link to the page where it is published.

A correction that the place’s own pages back up goes into the next update and is noted in the revision history. A place that closes keeps its page, marked as closed, and leaves every table.

You can also ask for a place you run to be taken off the list: choose “Ask to remove a listed place” in the correction form and leave a contact that shows you run it. The place, its page and its rows in the data files are removed within a month.

Dates and updates

Every place’s sources are read again within 6 months. Prices published for a period that has ended stay on the place’s page with that period; the filters and the summary line leave them out.

How the site is paid for

Places pay nothing to be listed, and no payment changes a row or where it stands, which always follows area and name.

A place’s page may carry one link to Zartrace, a service affiliated with this list and labelled as such. Clicks on contact buttons are counted only as totals, with no personal data.

Open data

The full list can be downloaded as JSON, one record per place, and as CSV, one row per programme. Both files carry every source, flag and date and state their licence.

Areas, distance and the map

Areas are Bogotá’s UPZ, the planning zones the city keeps its figures by, most of them named after a barrio parents know (Chicó Lago, Los Cedros - Cedritos, Modelia); the municipios around the city; and a few large neighbourhoods that people name instead of their town, such as Ciudad Verde in Soacha. A branch is filed under the UPZ or municipio whose official limits contain it, or under a listed neighbourhood when it lies close to its centre.

Distance is a straight line from the point you choose to the nearest branch, shown in steps of half a kilometre. Your location is asked for only when you press the button, and it stays in your browser.

A point worked out from an address is only approximate. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.
